[94552] Education system in Iran: Entrance exams for special state schools cancelled
Policy change in school enrollment in Iran
The Iranian Ministry of Education has issued a new directive cancelling the entrance exams for "special state" (Namuneh) schools for 7th-grade students. According to reports, enrollment will now be carried out based on general conditions only, while taking into account residence within the institution's geographical range, and without charging tuition fees.
The announcement was widely distributed on social media and local platforms. According to the Hamian-e Pezeshkian Telegram channel, identified with the president's supporters, this is a step aimed at making education accessible. The details were also confirmed by the Khabari Plus news channel and the East Azerbaijan province news channel, which noted that the decision is based on a "new circular from the Ministry of Education."
Despite extensive engagement with the topic among channels identified with the establishment and local media, such as the SNN.ir channel (Student News Agency) and the Khorasan Online channel, no opposition or criticism from opposition figures regarding the pedagogical implications of cancelling the exams has been reported at this stage.
