[85311] Iran and the US announce a ceasefire: The war in Lebanon is at the heart of the agreements
As part of the planned phases, the agreement is expected to officially enter into force on Friday, June 19, while the Khabari Plus channel reports that the first phase will focus on ending the fighting, opening the Strait of Hormuz, and lifting the naval blockade. Afterwards, 60-day talks will begin to formulate a permanent agreement that will address the Iranian nuclear program and the lifting of sanctions. On the Khamenei-Pezeshkian channel, which is affiliated with the Iranian government, it is noted that the National Security Council has adopted a strict "step-by-step" mechanism, conditioned on consistent implementation by the US, in order to prevent any future "breach of commitments."
On the other hand, the newspaper "Vatan-e Emrooz", a newspaper representing a hardline and conservative line in Iran, analyzes the agreement as a failure for PM Netanyahu, and argues that recent Israeli attempts to operate in the Dahiyeh in Beirut failed to prevent the political move. According to them, the agreement ties Israel's hands and prevents it from continuing military activity in Lebanon under the threat of being defined as a "breach of the agreement."
From the international parties reporting in Al-Arabiya Persian, the importance of the link between the Iranian fighting and the Lebanese front is emphasized, as defined by Araghchi as a "core demand" of Iran since the beginning of the conflict. Iranian regime representatives, as published in the Fars/SNN Student News Agency, declared that built-in deterrent mechanisms exist in the event of violations by Israel in Lebanon.
