For 96 hours, the Strait of Hormuz – the most important strategic shipping lane for oil transport in the world – has been completely closed to vessel traffic, according to widespread reports in Iranian and pro-Iranian media. According to the reports, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is not issuing passage permits to any vessels, including oil tankers, commercial ships, and fishing boats.
A correspondent for the Iranian Public Broadcaster (IRIB) reported that "more than 96 hours have passed since the Revolutionary Guards' navy stopped issuing permits" and that the strait remains "closed until further notice" to all vessels entering and exiting. According to the reports, ships waiting at anchorages in Hormozgan province received explicit warnings to stay away from the area under Iranian management.
The reports are echoing across dozens of Telegram channels, including local news channels and media bodies close to the security establishment, such as the Revolutionary Guards' media channel. The Student News Network (SNN) and elements supporting the "Axis of Resistance," such as the channel identified with Ansar Allah (the Houthis), also published the identical message under the headline "Zero passage in the Strait of Hormuz."
