The Iranian Red Crescent Society has issued urgent warnings about scammers posing as official representatives to steal banking information from citizens affected by recent military strikes. Officials report the national psychological support hotline has fielded over 75,000 calls from traumatized civilians.
Following the unprecedented US and Israeli airstrikes across Iran, the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) has issued an urgent warning regarding fraudulent social media accounts and phone calls exploiting the crisis. According to the state-run خبرگزاری ایرنا (IRNA) news agency, scammers are posing as the Red Crescent to extract personal and banking information under the guise of offering financial aid.
Multiple platforms, including the pro-government حامیان پزشکیان channel and the general news outlet آخرین خبر, reiterated the IRCS's statement that the organization "has no contact number, personal message, or system for providing financial aid to individuals." Authorities are urging the public not to be deceived by these fake accounts.
The IRCS clarified that its only official phone systems are 112 for emergency relief and 4030 for psychological support. حوادث فوری ⚠️ reports that the 4030 hotline is specifically dedicated to answering "war-affected citizens" and providing psychological support and consultation services following the recent bombardments.
IRCS head Pirhossein Kolivand announced that the 4030 system has become a "symbol of national empathy, social solidarity, and a clear manifestation of the culture of unconditional service." According to the official IRCS Telegram channel, hundreds of volunteer specialists have answered 75,744 consultation calls, providing 337,920 minutes (equivalent to 5,632 hours) of psychological support and guidance to citizens coping with the aftermath of the attacks. Kolivand noted the hotline was established in collaboration with the Execution of Imam Khomeini's Order (EIKO), providing a platform for volunteers with a "jihadi spirit" to reduce public anxiety and strengthen hope.
The sources indicate a rapid emergence of financial scams targeting vulnerable civilians in the immediate aftermath of the massive US and Israeli airstrikes. The statistics provided by the IRCS regarding the 4030 hotline underscore a massive, acute demand for psychological support and trauma counseling among the Iranian population.
