The Iranian government clarifies: An increase in the 'Koolbarg' amount is not on the agenda right now

The spokesperson for the Iranian government addressed public expectations today regarding the increase of government food cards (Koolbarg), and stated unequivocally that "as of now, there is no news regarding an increase in the Koolbarg amount". According to the spokesperson, while increasing aid is one of the "government's goals," it is mandatory to "align desires with operational capabilities."

At the same time, Akapour, an advisor to the President of Iran for economic cooperation affairs, clarified that while the issue is being discussed in the government, it has "not yet been finalized," and added that any official announcement on the matter is under the exclusive authority of the government spokesperson.

Against this backdrop, government officials point to broader economic difficulties affecting supply and demand. According to the Avand Cart channel, the administration blames external factors for the supply difficulties, with the spokesperson noting that "pirate actions by the US" affect the volume of imports and complicate the supply chain.

In addition to the food aid aspects, the state news agency IRNA, known for the official line that aligns with the regime's positions, noted that the government has so far completed payment of 66 trillion rials (defined as 66 'Hemat') as compensation for damages caused during the "Third War of Liberation." Experts point out that resources directed toward war damage rehabilitation may constitute an additional barrier to expanding civilian subsidies.
