US and Israeli forces continued heavy bombardments across Iran on March 13, 2026, targeting security checkpoints, military facilities, and a pro-regime Quds Day rally. An Israeli drone strike severely disrupted a funeral for Basij militia members in Tehran, scattering attendees.
US and Israeli Airstrikes Target Quds Day Rallies and Basij Funerals in Iran
Amid the unprecedented joint US-Israeli military campaign that has heavily degraded Iranian air and naval forces, widespread airstrikes continued across the Islamic Republic on Friday, March 13, 2026. The latest wave of bombardments targeted police and Basij centers, military infrastructure, and pro-government gatherings, according to a consensus of Farsi-language media reports.
Leadership Targeted at Quds Day Rally
Strikes in the capital coincided with government-sponsored Quds Day rallies.
Iran International reports that state media videos showed a building being hit in close proximity to a gathering of regime supporters in Tehran. Mohammad Mokhber, an assistant to Ali Khamenei, was present at the targeted location; footage showed him attempting to react before being locked in a ring of his bodyguards.
DW Persian noted that heavy attacks focused on Tehran, Arak, Dezful, and Karaj deliberately struck near pro-government rallies, though the outlet cautioned that independent verification of the footage remains impossible.
Drone Strike Disrupts Basij Funeral
In Tehran's Khavaran district, an Israeli drone strike hit a security checkpoint during a funeral procession for Basij militiamen killed earlier in the conflict.
Vahid Online highlighted that Fars News, a media outlet affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), confirmed the authenticity of circulating videos, acknowledging the explosion occurred near a gathering mourning eight personnel killed at a Khavaran checkpoint.
Alarabiya Farsi corroborated that the checkpoints were hit during the funeral for Basijis killed in the war.
Shabnameh, an explicitly anti-regime channel,
reported the incident with hostile framing, stating the drones targeted the ceremony for the carcasses of 8 Basijis. According to the channel, the explosions prompted attendees to abandon the bodies and flee the area, completely upending the ceremony in chaos.
Nationwide Infrastructure Strikes
The aerial campaign struck multiple other military and industrial targets across the country throughout Friday:
Tehran: Plumes of smoke were reported rising from the Yousefabad area, while strikes also hit the Tehransar district and a location near Azadegan Park, according to user-submitted videos broadcast by Iran International.
Arak: US and Israeli fighter jets targeted the Hajiabad industrial town,
as shown in citizen footage.
- Behshahr: Facilities belonging to the Islamic Republic's Air Force were struck on Friday, severely damaging remaining military infrastructure.
