[63226] Mysterious explosion at 'Tomer' company facility in Beit Shemesh: Reports of damage to security infrastructure
Powerful explosion at a security facility in Beit Shemesh
On May 17, 2026, a significant explosion was reported at a facility of the "Tomer" company in the Beit Shemesh area, which is involved in the development and production of offensive and defensive missiles. According to Hamian Pezeshkian, the Israeli network "Kan" reported that the explosion occurred within the company's complex, sparking a wave of speculation in regional media.
On the Sabereen News channel, which is identified with the pro-Iranian resistance line, footage from the scene was published, and it was claimed that the Israeli military is preventing medical and fire rescue personnel from entering the area, a fact that they claim "adds to the speculations about the true nature of the explosion." The "Kan" network was further quoted as claiming that "it is by no means possible that the explosion in Beit Shemesh was controlled," and that there is a possibility that official sources are trying to hide information about the incident according to Sabereen News.
Conversely, Sabereen News cited military analyst Babak Taghvaee, who is close to the Israeli perspective, who noted that this was an "accident" caused by the ignition of chemical substances (sodium perchlorate) in a Tomer company warehouse. According to the same source, there is concern that the explosion also damaged a stockpile of "Arrow 3" interceptor missiles that were stored nearby.
At the same time, reports on the Linkdoni Tehran, Mashhad, Shiraz, and more channel and on Hamian Pezeshkian cited the Al-Mayadeen network, which attributes the explosion to a technical failure during the transfer of weaponry and military equipment within the facility.
