Rising Tension: New Legislation and Mutual Accusations

In the shadow of the ongoing war, the Knesset approved in its second and third readings a law allowing the imposition of the death penalty on terrorists from Hamas's military wing, as well as holding public trials for those involved in the massacre. According to the IRNA News Agency (a state news agency affiliated with Iran), the law passed by a majority vote after having been promoted as early as last March.

On the other hand, Taher al-Nono, a media advisor to the head of the Hamas political bureau, responded sharply to the situation on the ground. According to Fars News, al-Nono claimed that Israel is continuing with "tactics of killing and starvation" in the Gaza Strip, which he called "the continuation of the war on a smaller scale." Sputnik Afghanistan Agency reported that al-Nono accused IDF forces of neutralizing anyone approaching what he called the "Yellow Line" which changes constantly. According to al-Nono's words, negotiations on the second phase of the deal will not progress as long as the first phase is not fully implemented.

In addition, IRNA reported that Hamas is in the process of reorganizing its administrative structure, and that the results of the organizational changes will be published soon.

In another arena, a Telegram channel affiliated with the Iranian opposition published statements in the name of Maryam Rajavi, who linked Israeli policy to the Iranian regime's internal preoccupation with death penalties, claiming that it is a means of repression against popular protests.
