According to a report on Vahid Online, the move was intended to "draw attention to the Iranian people." The media outlet notes that Brin, who was born in Moscow in 1973, has a background as a political refugee; he immigrated to the United States at the age of six with his family to escape political pressures in the then-Soviet Union.
