During a conference in Armenia on May 4, 2026, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated that European countries have begun to implement agreements for the use of military bases in accordance with the demands of President Donald Trump. According to a report by Iran International, Rutte noted that although there was "disappointment from the US," the Europeans listened to the message and are now meeting their commitments.

Fars News Agency, which is identified with the positions of the Iranian government, expanded and reported that the logistical cooperation includes the transfer of critical equipment, such as ships and minesweeping systems, to the operational area. Rutte emphasized that member states are now ensuring that all American requests for troop deployment and logistical support are receiving a full response.

At the same time, Trump expressed in an interview with 'Fox News', as quoted in Fars, his deep disappointment with NATO's conduct regarding the campaign against Iran, and claimed that his actions were intended "to serve the entire world." On the other hand, European sources quoted in Fars point to growing concern in European capitals over further hardening of the White House's positions, especially against the backdrop of assessments that a Republican loss in the mid-term elections could lead Trump to increase pressure on NATO as a measure of political retaliation.
