Deputy Speaker of the Majlis (Iranian Parliament), Ali Nikzad, announced today, May 3, 2026, that the strategic situation in the Strait of Hormuz is changing irreversibly. According to reports published on کانال اخبار سپاه پاسداران and several other Iranian media channels, including اخبارفوری خبرفوری جنگ امریکا فوری, Nikzad clarified that "the strait will not return to its state before the Third Gulf War."
Nikzad claimed that the strategic passage in the straits will henceforth be managed according to new legislation that will be passed in the Iranian parliament. During a visit he made to the strait region, the Deputy Speaker of the Majlis noted, as published in آخرین خبر هرمزگان, that a 12-point plan for managing the strait has been prepared. According to him, the new law will allow for redirecting about 70% of the revenue from fees collected from the passage for the benefit of the Iranian public.
The channel اِپُک تایمز فارسی, which is identified with critical positions towards the Iranian regime, reported that Nikzad stated that any attempt by foreign actors to impose a maritime blockade on Iranian ports "will fail." Local government officials emphasize that the move constitutes an exercise of Iranian sovereignty over the critical shipping route.
The announcement comes against the backdrop of growing regional tension, as media outlets identified with the Revolutionary Guards present the move as a forceful step to secure Iran's national interests in the face of external pressure attempts.
