On June 3, 2026, Russia experienced a widespread wave of air attacks targeting critical energy infrastructure. According to reports on Amir Tsarfati and TabZ - Alternative Media, Ukrainian UAVs hit the oil export terminal at the Port of St. Petersburg. This is the first time this facility has been successfully attacked by Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles, with footage from the field showing at least three active fire spots in the complex.

The Bellum Acta channel reported that this was a "long-range drone swarm" aimed at fuel tankers, noting that the event occurred on the opening day of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). According to the channel, which supports pro-Western positions, the Governor of the Leningrad Oblast claimed that Russia's air defense systems managed to shoot down about 50 drones during the event.

At the same time, the Geopolitics Watch channel, which presents a critical line regarding Western and Ukrainian involvement, reported that similar attacks also occurred in the Moscow region. The channel further warned that Russia is preparing a response using Tu-95MS strategic bombers and ballistic missiles, although it emphasized that this is not a large-scale attack that will take place within the immediate hours, but rather one expected in the coming days.

The incident highlights the escalation of fighting deep within Russian territory, with a Ukrainian attempt to damage the Russian economy on a significant day of international assembly. While Western sources focus on the success of the attack on the oil terminal, Russian sources emphasize the intensity of the air defense and the expectation of a harsh military response.
