A tragedy occurred this morning, June 2, 2026, at the Gangshan Air Force Base in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, when a T-34 training aircraft crashed and caught fire during a training mission. According to reports by TabZ - Alternative Media, the aircraft, which bears tail number 3414, lost control under as-yet-undetermined circumstances while performing a drill simulating an engine failure.
The WarFront Witness channel noted that the plane crashed on the grass next to the runway at 08:08 AM. Both pilots on board the aircraft—identified by TabZ as Lieutenant Colonels Lu and Kuo—were pronounced dead at the scene. WarFront Witness described the pilots as a "flight instructor and an evaluation officer."
The Taiwan Air Force has announced the establishment of a special task force to investigate the circumstances of the accident. As of now, various sources, which generally lean toward criticizing the regimes in Iran and Russia and supporting Western positions, are reporting the incident as a training accident without pointing to any hostile involvement.
