[76934] IDF Expands Ground Operations in Southern Lebanon: Capture of Beaufort Ridge and Wadi Saluki
Expansion of the Campaign in Southern Lebanon
The IDF issued an official statement this morning, May 31, 2026, regarding the expansion of operational activity in southern Lebanon. According to Amir Tsarfati, IDF forces have been operating for several days in the area of the Beaufort Ridge and Wadi Saluki with the goal of "dismantling terrorist infrastructure and eliminating terrorists." The operation, authorized by the Chief of Staff, includes crossing the Litani River and expanding the maneuver toward more northern areas, including proximity to the city of Nabatieh.
According to the IDF, the operation is intended to remove direct threats to the confrontation line communities and deny Hezbollah control over dominant areas from which hundreds of rockets have been launched toward Israel. Ground forces are benefiting from extensive cover from the Air Force, artillery, and tanks, which carried out preparatory work and cleared military infrastructure in the area.
Field Reports and Exchange of Fire
In parallel to the official announcement, various channels are reporting on combat events:
- Jewish News 24 reported on an attack on a Hezbollah artillery headquarters in the Al-Shamali area, noting "secondary explosions that indicated the presence of weaponry in the building."
- TabZ - Alternative Media, a channel that presents a line critical of the current administration and focuses on covering the war, documented an airstrike in the village of Roman during the night.
- On the other hand, Resistance Lounge – a channel affiliated with the Axis of Resistance – reported on the death of an IDF soldier from the Givati Brigade and the injury of four others as a result of an FPV drone attack by Hezbollah.
The reports by Daphna Liel confirmed the official IDF statement regarding the extensive activity in the Litani sector and nearby ridges, with an emphasis on the operational development on the ground in recent days.
