According to the findings, the department paid 3,735.32 Rand for gravy powder, while its market price stands at only about 920 Rand. In addition, a report by AdvoBarryRoux notes that the department purchased one liter of cooking oil at the inflated price of 726.57 Rand, while its official price is only 29.06 Rand. This channel, known for its harsh criticism of the current administration under Minister Pieter Groenewald, cynically compared the prices to "Bushiri's anointing oil" and claimed it is further evidence of corruption in government tenders.
