[55632] The future of the Ben 10 game series: Licensing and development difficulties
Will we see a new game in the 'Ben 10' series?
Fans of the hit animated series 'Ben 10' have received a disappointing update regarding the possibility of developing new games for modern consoles. Duncan Rouleau, one of the series' creators, recently addressed the topic on the TheCartoonBase account on X (Twitter), which reports on news and updates from the world of animation.
According to Rouleau, as quoted by TheCartoonBase, the idea of creating a new game for modern consoles — such as the PS5 — or performing ports (conversions) of nostalgic games from the past, is considered a "cool but difficult" initiative to execute. Rouleau emphasized that the main barrier is not creative, but bureaucratic: "It belongs to a different licensing department, and with all the mergers happening, things like game updates are hard to do."
The comments raised questions among the community regarding the scope of Rouleau's intentions, with users like Edwin_tennyson wondering if the reference to "modern consoles" specifically targets 9th-generation devices such as the PlayStation 5. As of now, it seems the future of the brand in the gaming sphere remains dependent on the legal and organizational complexity of the copyrights.
