The Ministry of Higher Education in Iraq opens registration for academic institutions

The Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research officially announced that July 1, 2026, will be the start date for submitting applications for "candidacy change channels and admission of previous year graduates" for the 2026/2027 academic year. According to the report from University of Baghdad, registration will remain open until the end of the official workday on July 30, 2026.

According to parallel reports in Naimer Ibn Al-Anbar || iraqedu, Wahad Al-Iraq, and Jaridat Al-Sabah Al-Iraqiya, the ministry clarified that electronic forms will be activated for students admitted in the 2025/2026 academic year under central admission tracks, martyrs' families, and elite categories. According to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), a key threshold condition is that students must not have enrolled in other study tracks such as government-sponsored private morning education, evening studies, or colleges affiliated with endowment (Waqf) authorities.

Additionally, Al-Mayadeen Iraq reported that universities are responsible for issuing secret codes to students who have lost them, with these being released exclusively to the student or a first-degree relative. The Ministry of Higher Education emphasized that this procedure is also intended for graduates of the 2024/2025 academic year who wish to re-apply for central admission and martyrs' family channels.
