Efforts to end the war in Lebanon: Tehran presents a 14-point plan

During the day (May 3, 2026), extensive diplomatic efforts were reported to end the war in the region. Al Jazeera Channel reports, based on sources, that Iran has submitted a 14-point proposal to Washington through Pakistani mediation. According to the 'Wahed Al-Iraq' channel, the proposal includes a complete cessation of the war on all fronts, including Lebanon, within 30 days. The Iranian 'Fars' Agency noted that the proposal excludes the dismantling of nuclear infrastructure. Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Esmail Baghaei, confirmed that Iran is currently reviewing the US response conveyed through Pakistan, but emphasized that "no nuclear negotiations are taking place at this stage."

On the other hand, US President Donald Trump responded dismissively to the Iranian document, as quoted in Al Jazeera channel saying that the proposal is "unacceptable" and that Iran must pay a "heavy enough price" for its actions over the last 47 years. Sources on the Axios website defined the gaps as very large and claimed that "the military option is near."

On the ground, fighting in southern Lebanon has not ceased. Hezbollah announced artillery strikes and the use of suicide drones against IDF forces at various points in southern Lebanon, including Al-Naqoura and Al-Qantara. Al-Mayadeen channel, identified with the Axis of Resistance, highlighted the organization's successes in using drones. At the same time, the Israeli Army reported extensive airstrikes and the destruction of underground infrastructure, noting that the organization is violating the ceasefire.

Israeli media, as reported in the 'Combat Information' channel, leveled internal criticism at the military's performance, with security sources quoted as feeling "embarrassed" by the difficulty of dealing with the drone threat, which is described as a "strategic trap." In the meantime, the Lebanese Ministry of Health reported casualties, including deaths and children, as a result of Israeli strikes in various villages in southern Lebanon.
